The Horizons Counseling Team is pleased to announce the Horizons K8 Book Study!
This semester, we will be reading and discussing Good Inside by Dr. Becky Kennedy.
In Good Inside, Dr. Becky shares her parenting philosophy, complete with actionable strategies, that will help parents move from uncertainty and self-blame to confidence and sturdy leadership. Offering perspective-shifting parenting principles and troubleshooting for specific scenarios - including sibling rivalry, separation anxiety, tantrums, and more - Good Inside is a lifetime of self-regulation, confidence, and resilience.
What: A community book study led by the Horizons counseling team in which we read, respond to, and discuss Good Inside. Our first goal is to understand the major themes and findings of the book. Our second and most important goal is to share ideas and next steps for how we may thoughtfully incorporate the book’s themes into our work as parents, caregivers, and educators.
There will be 2 study sessions. You are welcome to attend one or both sessions.
There is no expectation that you have read the entire book to participate. Your curiosity is all that you need to engage. There also will be coffee!
When:
● 8:30-9:30 November 20th Part I = Mindset & How To Think About Children
● 8:30-9:30 December 11th Part II = Practical Tools: Building Connection and Addressing Behavior
You are welcome to stay for as long or as little as your schedule allows; we understand people may need to get to work or other responsibilities.
