What is the Hawk Bucks Campaign?
Horizons' Hawk Bucks is our annual campaign supporting the school's operating budget, helping bridge the gap between State funding, the costs of services we pay to BVSD, and the true cost of our programs. The education Horizons provides — small classes, rich choices that support student interests, and individualized attention with a paraprofessional in nearly every room — comes at a real cost. Your support is essential to helping Horizons continue offering an outstanding K-8 progressive education for 21st century learners.
With a $375 Hawk Bucks donation for each Horizons student, we would more than meet our $100,000 goal for the 2026/2027 school year. Not every family can give the full amount, but we can all give something — and some of us can give more. We can also ask our friends, family, and networks to help raise funds for our school.
Last year, through the hard work and generosity of our school community, families, and friends, Horizons raised over $70,000 through Hawk Bucks and the Colorado Gives campaign. Our total fundraising goal for the year was $140,000 — and we surpassed it, thanks to Hawk Bucks/Colorado Gives, the Spring Auction and Gala, the ARTastic Holiday Market, and other efforts throughout the year. As a result, our parent- and teacher-led Council was able to fund over $200,000 in initiatives, directly supporting staff development, curriculum, sensory learning supplies, and our #BigKidsPlayToo playground and park development project.
This year, we need to match or exceed last year's fundraising goal to sustain the Horizons Council funds, develop our Nature Play spaces, and extend our intentional learning environments across our beautiful grounds.
Horizons gives more because we believe that's what students, families, our community, and the world need. What is the value of compassion, conflict resolution, curiosity, community, and critical thinking? At Horizons, we believe each is worth the investment. Won't you join us?
